Community Engagement Program Services
Consultation
The CE Program offers free consultation for community-engaged research projects that are looking for input on community research methods, partnership strategies, dissemination, evaluation goals, advisory board development, or any issue that will further a current or prospective translational research project.
To request a consultation, please complete the appropriate request form:
- Consultation for UCSF-affilated researcher
- Consultation for community clinician, agency or institution staff or other non-UCSF stakeholder
For an individual consultation, we will refer the request to a CE faculty or community member, depending on the nature of your request. For a group consultation, we'll schedule you and your team to receive one hour of consultation during one of our standing monthly sessions (4th Wednesday of the month from 9-12 am.) The group will consist of UCSF, Kaiser Permanente, and community experts who will read background material you send and respond to questions would like the group to prioritize in your one-hour consultation.
Consultations are free of charge and provide recommendations and feedback only; you are free to use or discard any input you receive. We're here to provide you a think tank from people with multiple perspectives and help you more your project forward. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Linkage
One form of consultation is Linkage, in which we can help identify community partners for researchers interested in developing their research ideas, setting up a community advisory board, and find practices or agency settings to collaborate with on new research projects and field requests for researchers from community groups interested in opportunities to participate in research. We also provide linkage services for community agency personnel, clinicians or providers who are seeking a UCSF collaborator. Because the CE mission is Engagement, our services do not include helping identify places to pass out recruitment flyers to find patients for clinical trials, although we will help you find interested clinics to partner on your projects.
Resources
CE resources include our Reference Manuals and Quick Start Guides; E-newsletter with information about current partnerships, funding opportunities, upcoming conferences, key articles; a bibliography on translational research; and a registry of community clinicians interested in practice-based research.
Training
CE training services include trainings on research and evaluation literacy for community agencies, dissemination and media training for researchers; trainings on community-based participatory research; and TICR courses on T2 research (forthcoming).
